About the Cranmer Local History Group


The Cranmer Local History Group was formed in July 2001 with the aims of:

  • Researching and promoting the history of Aslockton and Whatton-in-the-Vale;
  • Promoting local history and history in general.

The Group seeks to achieve the aims by:

  • Organising regular talks on local and general history.
  • Publishing an occassional 'Local History Digest'
  • Maintaining this web site
  • Providing display material on the local history of the two parishes at local events
  • Through various projects researching and archiving local history
  • Seeking to preserve 'Heritage Assets' in the two parishes.

The Group meets typically on the first Tuesday of each month at:

The Cranmer Centre, Main Street, Aslockton at 7:45 pm.

The Officers of the Group are elected at the Annual General Meeting each year, usually held in August.

The current Officers are:
